This was another very insightful piece into the working/creative process of a writer. The notebook comment resonated among other things here and I found this quite motivational in a lot of ways in general.

I relate to so much of this! My kids are in school now so I have a different workflow but when I had babies I remember walking the halls of the apartment building at night with a tiny girl in a front carrier while typing maniacally in gdocs on my phone. 😂 We do what we gotta do!

It’s true, I also resonated with what you said about how having more time makes you procrastinate. It wasn’t until I had zero time that I suddenly got my ass in gear to do this for a living and my work ethic skyrocketed lol.

It is amazing, isn't it? Do you ever look back on the days before kids and wonder what the hell you were doing? Having to juggle a job and parenting seemed to wake me up. I now seem to be able to do 6 hours work in 3.

This was great, so interesting to get inside the minds of writers. Hanna has been (or, if you're reading this - You have been) a great help as I try to navigate the ins and outs of self-publishing and serialising fiction and she's just genuinely a lovely person, always taking the time to offer her insights.

That writing routine though! I enjoy hearing about other writers, but my goodness, I am so easily distracted and 3 kids is one thing - I just have a 6 year old (and a sometimes ex-wife who is here and isn't), but I cannot properly work unless I am at home alone. Just knowing I might get distracted at any point fuels my anxiety and makes me cranky. I've accepted that's who I am, and when alone I am so productive and inspired. My mind operates like that.

This was probably my favourite quote: "I'm all for feedback, but the idea of someone making tweaks to fit my book into a current trend offends every inch of me." That very much encapsulates why I opted for the self-publishing route (I published my first book in June and am at work on books 2, 3 and 4 at the same time - I can't focus on just 1 thing at a time!)
